Organizing music events requires detailed collaboration between musicians, organizers, and technical staff. A critical element of this collaboration is the exchange of precise technical requirements through rider lists, which allows musicians to have the necessary equipment on stage, and organizers to know in advance what is needed for a successful concert.

At the panel, Braca Vasilić from the Faculty of Dramatic Arts points out the challenges faced when organizing the Belgrade Jazz Festival. Most participants come without their own equipment, requiring great efforts to procure the same to meet the performers’ standards.

Milorad Vučković from MM Concerts and Youth Center highlights the importance of detailed rider lists and the challenges when communication is not at a satisfactory level. The lack of precise requirements or insufficient communication can lead to problems on the day of the concert.

From the music side, Žika Jelić from YU Group prefers using their own equipment within the region, while for performances abroad, they use rider lists for requests. Experience shows that the satisfaction of musicians with the equipment they use directly affects the quality of the performance.

Promoter Vladislav Pejak shares his experiences with blues bands, emphasizing the importance of meeting the technical needs of musicians for a quality performance and audience satisfaction. Finding specific equipment, like the Hammond B3 organ, represents one of the bigger challenges in organization.

Predrag Ivanović, the main organizer of Kontakt, from the publishing and production house Odličan Hrčak, shared his experience related to the realization of concerts, emphasizing the importance of good preparation and understanding between musicians and organizers. He particularly highlighted how precise technical requirements, well-defined through rider lists, allow bands to provide the best possible performances at concerts, which directly contributes to audience satisfaction and the success of the event. Ivanović’s perspective further illuminates how crucial open and clear communication is in the music industry, especially when it comes to technical details necessary for a quality performance.

All panelists agree that the key to the successful organization of a music event lies in detailed and precise communication between all participants – from musicians to technical staff. Rider lists play a central role in this communication, enabling everyone to know in advance what is needed for the successful realization of a concert.
