The concert of the regional indie attraction KOIKOI will be held on Friday, March 22nd, at 9 PM at Dorćol Platz as part of the gala part of the Kontakt program.
KOIKOI comes to Dorćol Platz with the new creative energy of Emilija Đonin, who recently joined the band. This will be their first Belgrade concert in this lineup, and the band announces that they are very eager and excited to perform in front of the home crowd in their new formation, promising an energetic performance and the premiere of new songs.
When it comes to generational bands, the first association is KOIKOI, the most sought-after band in the region over the past year. In 2023, they had a tour around Europe, and from the beginning of spring, they will share all their sublimated energy with the local audience and once again show why they are at the very top.
KOIKOI are Marko Grabež, Emilija Đorđević, Ivan Pavlović Gizmo, and Emilija Đonin – creatives from different corners of the local scene with a clear common goal of creating quality indie rock and pop, decisively filling the gap between the splendor of the mainstream and the intimacy of the underground.
They quickly became a prominent name on the Belgrade music scene. The audience first encountered them in 2019 on the Hali Gali compilation. At the beginning of 2021, KOIKOI became a new member of the Mr. Moonlee family, with their debut album “Pozivi u stranu” (Calls aside). This release was among the best regional albums on all major annual music lists. This album was followed by numerous concerts across the region.
After being included in the IMPALA’s “100 Artists To Watch” list for 2022 and reaching the finals of the HEMI Music Award, by the end of last year, KOIKOI were also nominated for the Music Moves Europe Awards 2023 as one of the 15 best upcoming artists in Europe. At the same time, they are conquering fans with their live energy at numerous European festivals – from Groningen, Hamburg, Amsterdam, then Brussels, Eindhoven, Prague, Brno, Bratislava, Budapest, Bucharest, and Tallinn.
In October last year, they were awarded as the young forces of the year in Serbia with the “Miroslav Miša Aleksić” recognition as part of the GODUM music award given by the Association of Musicians of Jazz, Entertainment, and Rock Music. At the end of 2023, they signed a contract with the prestigious French booking agency Voulez-vous Danser.
In February this year, they were featured on the “Hali Gali #2” compilation with a new song, the cathartic stadium anthem “Putem mimoza” (Through the Mimosas).
