SUBAsoba Interactive Installation at #Kontakt23
21 – 25. 21–25 March 2023 in KULA Exhibition Space (Cetinjska 15)
The SUBAsoba interactive installation, which caused great interest in Novi Sad in 2022, will be presented to the citizens of Belgrade. The work of Mitar Subotić Suba, musician, composer and producer will be celebrated in the unusual Kula exhibition space at Cetinjska 15. The installation will be installed as a side programme of the Kontakt Music Conference, Showcase and Festival from 21 to 25 March 2023.
As a producer and composer, Suba brought a new sound to the contemporary music of the former Yugoslavia, as well as to the music of Brazil. With his work, he left a huge mark in both countries, and his path to world fame was tragically cut short in 1999 in Sao Paolo. The music that Suba created was ahead of its time, therefore today, after more than three decades, it fully corresponds with current musical trends. He collaborated with the most important authors of the Yugoslav music such as Milan Mladenović and many Brazilian musicians, including Bebel Gilberto.
The installation consists of a permeation of different formats in the space of Kula at Cetinjska 15, with a side music programme that will be organized during the exhibition in the Anti Shop Elektropionir, at the same address. An exhibition, sound installation, conversations, presentation of new releases, lectures, screenings of video works, jam sessions, performances by DJ Brka and Vladimir Ivković await us…
The exhibition will include the Dreambird sound installation (authors Mitar Subotić Suba and Goran Vejvoda) and the new double vinyl Dreambird and the new CD SUBA: NOVI SAD.
His close associates, musicians and music critics from around the world will talk about Suba. Lectures on Suba’s music will be held by musicologist Milan Milojković and publisher and curator Vladimir Ivković.
The exhibition, which consists of photographs, documents, musical instruments and other artifacts from Suba’s life, was produced by the Mitar Subotić Suba Foundation. The editors of the programme are Vera Kopicl and Branka Parlić, the curator of the exhibition is Bosiljka Zirojević Lečić, and the producers are Igor Lečić and Ivan Fece.
The Kontakt Conference, Showcase and Festival will be held for the seventh time in Belgrade. #Kontakt23 awaits us from 23 to 25 March 2023, organized by the production company ‘Kontakt konferencija’, the concert agency Odličan Hrčak and the Belgrade Festivals Centre – CEBEF, under the auspices of the city of Belgrade.
#Kontakt23 will once again make Belgrade the meeting centre for professionals from the music business in March. The new edition of Kontakt will feature forums, panels, creative workshops and public discussions aimed at further improving the work of all sectors that make up the creative industries and the entertainment industry.
